A large defense manufacturer can rely on a highly responsive identification partnership with Brady to identify military vessel cables and components with quality labels, print systems, and on-site support.
Challenge: Identify ship cables and components
To identify cables and components during ship repair and construction, a defense manufacturer needed a reliable identification partner able to deliver large quantities of cable and component labels fast. The manufacturer’s military shipyards required a wide range of quality labels and practical label printing systems to address any identification need on military ships.
Solution: Complete range of reliable, printable labels
Brady delivered its top-tier BradyPrinter i7100 Industrial Label Printer and portable BMP71 Label Printers with a range of reliable label consumables that can be printed by both systems.
The heavy-duty and highly accurate BradyPrinter i7100 quickly prints a wide range of high-quality identification materials for various applications, including cable, asset, and component identification. The system easily prints all labels selected by the military shipyard, in large quantities when needed.
The defense manufacturer uses Brady’s B-7643 HCM tags in orange and white with a great outdoor lifespan to identify cables that could be exposed to UV radiation. Internal cabling is labeled with B-427 self-laminating labels that provide an excellent fit to cables and offer heightened print protection against oil, grease, and a range of chemicals thanks to a built-in laminate.
To offer fast information on specific components, the manufacturer uses Brady’s EPREP-label with a raised profile that looks just like a metal nameplate, at a fraction of the cost. All switches and other visible and actionable components are labeled with red EPREP labels with white prints.
In addition, and almost exclusively during ship construction, Brady’s B-361 laser-printed label is used for temporary identification. The label offers good print smudge resistance, solvent resistance, and elevated temperature performance. All solutions are printable with the BradyPrinter i7100, as well as with the high-end portable BMP71 Label Printer for on-the-spot label creation. Both print systems enable the manufacturer to easily print large label volumes in advance and to quickly create additional labels anywhere they are needed.
Result: An identification partnership
Brady also provides on-site training on how to print specific labels optimally and covers all of the defense manufacturer’s label printers with local technical support. Brady experts are also on standby to solve any emerging identification needs. Together with quality labels and print systems, Brady’s excellent local identification support creates a true partnership and the identification reliability the defense manufacturer was looking for.
