Food & beverage industries account for almost 24% of all manufacturing injuries according to EU OSHA. Increasing workplace safety and compliance with safety legislation is a high priority in food & beverage, although food safety always comes first. Now they can go hand in hand, thanks to a wide range of industrial safety identification solutions with low contamination risk from Brady.

Protect food safety and increase workplace safety

With our industrial grade identification and safety solutions, food & beverage plants can prevent a great number of workplace accidents. Signs are available to warn coworkers about danger and inform them about the PPE they should wear. With floor marking pedestrian and vehicle traffic can be organised in separate and safer traffic lanes, during maintenance moving objects and valves can be locked with Lockout/Tagout, and spills can be prevented from spreading over the workfloor with spill control solutions.

We develop and offer a number of safety identification solutions with low contamination risks including:

  • ToughWash washdown resistant signs and labels: do not crumble when exposed to cleaning agents or pressure, a metal detectable ToughWash version is available as an extra safeguard
  • Adhesive pipe markers: adhere closely to a wide range of pipe surfaces to avoid bacterial contamination
  • Spill Control: made out of low lint meltblown polypropylene to protect food safety
  • Lockout/Tagout: lock moving objects and valves in place to safeguard workers until maintenance is done
  • Floor marking: separate pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the warehouse to increase workplace safety
  • Equipment status tagging: clearly indicate which equipment has been deemed fit for use after inspection
  • Logistics marking: use a wide range of numbers & letters to increase the efficiency of your warehouse

Increased workplace safety and compliance

Safety signs are a great tool to increase workplace safety and compliance. They can be used to prohibit actions that can be extremely dangerous in specific situations, to warn employees of present danger and to highlight actions required to work in a safe way. They also increase compliance with EU Directive 89/655/EEC on minimum requirements for safety and health while using equipment, and with the EN ISO 7010 and EN ISO 3864 standards. Unfortunately, many safety signs tend to crumble in typical food industry washdown cycles and threaten food safety, an absolute no-go in food processing industries.

With our safety identification solutions, food & beverage plants can increase compliance with a number of EU Directives:

  • Directive 89/391/EEC: improvements in the safety and health of workers at work.
  • Directive 89/655/EEC: safety and health requirements for the use of work equipment by workers at work
  • Directive 98/24/EC: risks related to chemical agents at work
  • Directive 2000/60/EC: Water Framework Directive

Our solutions also help improve compliance with ISO 14001:

  • ISO 14001 (appendix 1, A.4.7, emergency preparedness and response), the organisation must draw up an emergency plan which requires the provision of absorbent materials to absorb discharged liquids

Food safety: OK!

ToughWash signs are designed to avoid food contamination. The signs do not crumble when exposed to cleaning agents or pressure and for additional food security, a metal detectable ToughWash version is available as an extra safeguard. With ToughWash, food industries can increase workplace safety and compliance with safety signs, while upholding the highest levels of food security.

Easy to clean

ToughWash signs are easy to clean and resist typical cleaning agents used in the food industry. They stay attached and remain legible, even when exposed to 70 bar (1000 PSI) under a straight angle from 15 cm away. This allows ToughWash signs to resist most washdown cycles in the stringent hygiene requirements faced by food industries.

Pre-printed and on-site printable

ToughWash labels and signs can be printed at your premises with Brady's printing systems and are also available as standard, pre-printed safety signs that can be implemented without using a Brady printer.

Pre-printed ToughWash labels and signs include:

  • B-862: resists food industry cleaning processes, strong adhesion to stainless steel, can be detected by commercially available metal detectors
  • B-863: resists food industry cleaning processes, strong adhesion to stainless steel

On-site printable ToughWash labels and signs include:

  • B-854: resists food industry cleaning processes, strong adhesion to stainless steel, can be detected by commercially available metal detectors
  • B-855: resists food industry cleaning processes, strong adhesion to stainless steel
